I know I’m not the only one who is over the moon at the above 0 degree weather that has finally arrived in the usually freezing city of Ottawa. Spring is officially in full swing and summer is just around the corner. With a new month comes new events to attend, here is a list of 8 Must-Attend Ottawa Events that are taking place this April.

1. Capital Burlesque Expo (April 10-12)

For 3 days the second annual Capital Burlesque Expo will be returning to Ottawa. It will be taking place at Barrymores Music Hall and there will be a variety of performers who will be bringing back the days of classic burlesque. 2. Ottawa Humane Society FurBall Gala (April 11)

For animal lovers like me, you may be interested in attending the Ottawa Humane Society FurBall Gala on April 11th. The tickets are very pricey, however all of the proceeds go to the humane society and the event will consist of amazing food, auctions, dancing, and entertainment. The theme this year is Moroccan Nights and the event will be taking place at the Shaw Centre. You can purchase your tickets from the official event website of the Ottawa Humane Society.

3. Dental Charity Ball (April 11)

On April 11th at The Museum of History will be the Dental Charity Ball, which stands to promote oral health awareness while raising donations for several charities. 4. The National Women’s Show (April 12)

Calling all women and their equally as fabulous friends – the National Women’s Show has made its way to our capital city. It will be taking place at the Shaw Center for one day only and will consist of different themes such as: Beauty & Wellness, Travel, House/Home, Fashion & Style and Business and Career. 5. Ottawa Wine & Food Festival (April 17-18)

For the second year in a row, the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival is returning to the city. It will feture amazing Spring & Summer wines as well as products from local breweries. There will also be a variety of food trucks for those looking for something to munch on and the entire event is a steal for only about $20 a ticket. 6. The Ottawa Orchid Society Show (April 18-19)

For two days only, the Ottawa Orchid Society will be putting on the 34th annual orchid show at the Nepean Sportsplex. There will be orchid displays, an art gallery as well as orchid vendors. The admission ranges from $10-12 and the event is sure to be a beautiful experience.

7. Ikebana (April 16-19)

At the same time as the Orchid Society Show, Ikebana will be coming to Ottawa at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Ikebana is an event that displays stunning botanical creations. This event is perfect for anyone seeking a bit of natural beauty while the weather outside slowly gets better. The cost of the event is included in museum admission, so you can pick up your tickets the day of.

8. Ottawa Grassroots Festival (April 23-26)

A great ending to a great month: the Ottawa Grassroots Festival will be coming to the Royal Canadian Legion (at 330 Kent St.) for 3 days. The festival is a non-profit, volunteer-run events that will have concerts and workshops. There will be many performers who will be putting on great shows. Attending in the daytime is absolutely free and only evening shows/performances require tickets!
