Have you heard of Andaz? It’s the new boutique hotel that has opened up in the Byward Market. You’ll find this boutique hotel in some of the world’s largest cities like New York, London, Singapore, Costa Rica and more. Ottawa is the first city in Canada to get an Andaz hotel, pretty cool!
My favourite part about this new hotel is hands down their rooftop lounge, Copper Spirits and Sights. It’s the highest publicly accessible patio in the downtown core. You’ll instantly fall in love with their rooftop patio. From here you can see a stunning, panoramic view of the city including Parliament, Byward Market, National Gallery of Canada, Gatineau and more. I was lucky to catch this vibrant sunset from their patio on the 16th floor the other night:
It’s the perfect spot for a night out with friends or date night. They have a great selection of cocktails and some small plates you can enjoy while you’re there. They’ll also have some fun punch bowls available like their Bytown Bourbon Punch, perfect for sharing with friends. Below is a shot of their caesar made Walter caesar mix and a ketchup chip and seaweed rim.
All the furniture on the patio is Canadian made. You’ll never want to leave these comfy booths. They also have fire pits for when the temperatures drop so that you can enjoy the view up there even in the fall.
Another cool fact about Andaz is that they love supporting local! Their complimentary mini-bar is stocked with local products like Hummingbird Chocolate and more. Their rooms also include Purple Urchin products, which I’m a huge fan of. In the elevator, artwork by local artists will catch your eye. If all that wasn’t good enough, imagine waking up to this view:
They also have a great restaurant on their main floor called Feast + Revel. This spot is all about eating, drinking and having a good time. It’s open 3 meals a day, 7 days a week. You’ll be able to taste some delicious Canadian cuisine focusing on local, organic ingredients.
All the dishes were amazing but the one that stood out the most to me was the Wild Boar Rillette. It’s the perfect mix between sweet and savoury on a beavertail-esque pastry.
