Dear College and University diary:
“I was driving home at the end of my very first week of my very first year of university. There was lots of construction going on, on the highway. So they had put up one of those huge digital screens projecting the words: “CAUTION: Rough Road Ahead”. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud to myself in awe of the metaphor of that situation: I had already accepted that the road ahead of me would, at times, be very rough indeed. And it was. But looking back, four years later, I can confidently say that to accurately complete the metaphor, the next sign should have read: “But it will be worth it”. Because it so very much was”.
“My four years of undergrad were the absolute best times of my life. It was the most rewarding and challenging experience, and nothing would have been the same without the amazing group of people I met. I have established life long friends. These friends were so crucial to my time in university. Through all the stress, tears, and successes, my friends were my support system, and I would not have been able to get through undergrad without them”.
“University is a complete roller coaster ride, there are ups and downs but the people you meet and spend time with outside of campus are so crucial. Because, they make the downs totally worth it”.
“My university experience has been one of the best experiences of my life. I found a great number of people who have supported me, laughed with me, cried with me, and most importantly who have accepted me as I am. And for that, I could not be any more grateful for this experience”.
“My favourite doodles were always of Mickey Mouse. I checked all my notes and in four years, that was the only doodle I ever drew. How come?…you tell me. I guess Mickey always made me feel happy when I was younger, so maybe in those times when I doodle on my notes, I wanted to feel happy. But oh well”.
“Keep friends close to get you through the tough times always! Have lots of baking parties”.
“If there’s one thing I learned from my university experience, it’s to surround yourself with positivity. We’re all trying to figure out our future and it’s only easier when the people around you support you and stay optimistic”.
