Music festivals and fashion; many do not understand the association between both but with great music comes great fashion. Annual music festivals like Coachella are great examples of this uncommon association. Coachella is an annual music and arts festival that takes place in California with a lineup of various artists and an audience that includes a long list of celebrities. Going for Coachella is the perfect opportunity to don festive attires because fashion is typically a great deal in the musical scene. According to Vogue UK, Coachella is “where to spot the trends that will dominate festival fields this summer.” With such festivals in existence, we are about to make a name for ourselves with the RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest festival taking place annually in the beautiful city of Ottawa, thanks to the festival’s fashion director, Julie Beun. She is behind the I Love #RBCBluesfest Fashion Campaign. Bluesfest is an incredible music festival, but as Julie says, “it has always missed a fashion component”. That said, there will be a game changer at the bluesfest festival this year! Fashion is going to be a big deal! To begin with, there will be a style squad that will be out in the crowd looking for the best-dressed people at the festival and taking pictures of their creative outfits. These pictures will be posted on bluesfest’s official Instagram, Facebook and YouTube pages, and will also be sent out to Ottawa Citizen for a chance to be printed in the newspaper’s fashion section under the week’s best dressed column. Also, the amazing people that will be photographed will have the opportunity to get a free Bluesfest t-shirt, which are not your basic, everyday t-shirt with the bluesfest logo printed on it, they are very stylish and I’m sure everyone will love to own one.

Going further, there will be a fashion tent where various limited edition Bluesfest Kania Collection merchandise, designed by the lovely Stacey Bafi-Yeboa, willbe available for sale. A House of Fashion tent where free Burberry makeovers and fragrance samples can be gotten will also be present on site, as well as a glitter tattoo section. The tattoos last for about a week! Finally, you can tag your own pictures with the hashtags #RBCBluesfest and #FollowMeBackstage on Instagram for recognition and to peek backstage at all that’s going on from shoots to videos and interviews.

This new Bluesfest festival fashion campaign is in partnership with J. Beun Media, Kania, Ottawa Citizen, J. Croner Agency, Nadine de Lange, Wunderkammer, Warren Chase, JMB Canada, Sparkling Expressions, Zarucci, and Captivate Creative Studios. This is absolutely exciting and it definitely steps the festival up a notch. I’ll surely keep my eyes out for you people, so put your festive attires on and get yourselves prepared for the goodies. See you there and enjoy Bluesfest 2015!
