September is a month of firsts for a lot of people. It could mark your first month of high school, of college, or of your new job. It’s exciting when new things happen, but it can also be pretty stressful.

To make this month a little less hectic, we at Wingd have put together a list of events taking place in Ottawa this month. So whether you are flying solo, or getting together a group of your friends and family, check out some of the great events taking place over the next four weeks and have some fun!

1. Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival (Sept 3-7)

The Hot Air Balloon Festival is returning to Baie Park in Gatineau in a couple of days for the 28th time. If you are interested in seeing an absolutely beautiful sight, come down and check it out. This event is perfect for friends and family of all ages, you can check out the Festival’s website for more information.

 2. Ottawa Turkish Festival (Sept 7-13)

Looking to learn about the Turkish culture? Well here’s your chance! The Ottawa Turkish Festival offers a bit of everything for everyone: food, music, dance and a history lesson all in one! You can get more details about the event on the Festival’s website!

3. House of PainT Festival (Sept 9-13)

Calling all art and music lovers – the House of Paint Urban Arts Festival will be merging hip-hop, MCing, DJing, Urban Dancing and Live Graffiti for a festival that you do not want to miss! There will also be many things to purchase such as food, art, clothes, and crafts. You can get more details about the festival on the House of painT website.

 4. Baconpalooza (Sept 12)

Is bacon your favorite food? Well I have good news for you! Baconpalooza is making its way to Ottawa on Prince of Wales Drive. There will be food trucks and drink tents and live entertainment – what more could you want? Check out the details of the event on the official baconpalooza website!

5. Cityfolk 2015 (Sept 16-20)

A festival dedicated to Canada’s traditions, Cityfolk is a great event for those wanting to enjoy great music, dancing and storytelling. Lansdowne park will be full of people of all ages enjoying art in all forms. Find out more about the event on Cityfolk’s website.

6. Ottawa Senators Pre-Season Home Game (Sept 21)

The Ottawa Senators will be having their pre-season home game as they kick off their 24th hockey season. The game will be taking place at the Canadian Tire Centre and you can get your tickets on the Ottawa Senators’ website. Don’t miss their second pre-season home game on September 26th.
