The Big Fashion Sale by Quebec Designers, often referred to as Le Grande Braderie de Mode Québécoise is an annual one of a kind event that congregates works and masterpieces designed by great Canadian Québécois(e) designers free for showcase and up for sale to everyone. This event usually occurs in three different cities every year; Montreal, Gatineau and Quebec City. With each year, thousands of crowds are drawn to both support and indulge in spectacular designs and clothes for a very low price.
The latest stop for The Big Fashion Sale by Quebec Designers will be in Gatineau from Oct. 30th to Nov. 1st, 2015. It will take place at the Hotel Hilton du Lac-Leamy from 4pm to 9pm on Friday, Oct. 30th, and 10am to 6pm the rest of the weekend from Oct. 31st to Nov. 1st.
Typically this free entry event draws crowds from all over Ontario and Quebec to shop the 50-80% discount deals offered by multiple Quebec designers on their works from clothing apparels to jewelry and accessories. At the show, all the designers place their works on racks upon racks, where people can walk freely to examine and purchase in their free will. However, this year, there’s going to be the added component of a personal fashion stylist, Amelie Lessard.
A personal stylist and fashion expert who studied fashion all through her formative years in Quebec City, Lessard states that she’s worked with different body types and body shapes. Her motto is to make people “feel good and pretty with their clothes”. She currently works with Anne de Shalla, leader of ‘SIGNATURES QUÉBÉCOISES’ and producer & organizer of The Big Fashion Sale by Quebec Designers event. The added element of a personal stylist at this year’s shows will no doubt bring a refreshing component.
Lessard confirmed during our interview that she will help provide expert advice to customers on what to buy, things to pair up, educate on fashion faux-pas, as well as encourage people to feel, “beautiful and sophisticated”. She also assured that certain elements should be expected at the upcoming Gatineau show at the Hotel Hilton du Lac-Leamy; designs and clothing of impalpable scope, as well as a contest open to everyone with a winning prize of $1500 in shopping money at the show. A sugar sculpture made in the spirit of Halloween by Jacques Chauvet, a famous France artist famous at the Casino Lac-Leamy, will also be on display at the event.
So make sure you mark your calendars if you live in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, and dress to impress but feel comfortable as you are in for a fun time, cheap deals and beautiful designs. The motto for a lot of Québécois(e) designers has been ‘Beautiful yet Sophisticated European Style’, so a lot of the designs that will be present at the show will reflect this. Lessard also states that this year, the fashion trend is “Lots of Hats and Belts! Belts! Belts!…and certain colours like navy blue, black & white, and hot red seem to be the hue of choice for a lot of designers”.
For more information, visit the official website of the show, and follow the show on Facebook and Instagram. Nonetheless, make sure you visit Hotel Hilton du Lac-Leamy any day from Oct. 30th – Nov. 1st to enjoy what has already been branded a one of ‘a kind shopping event’, so hurry and save the date!
