Have you ever watched a video that was so powerful and inspirational that it brought you to tears?

Imagine that feeling, but instead of watching a video, it’s happening right in front of you.

WE Day is an event of youth empowerment that occurs every year in a variety of cities across Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. WE Day features a variety of speakers who have all made an impact in their communities and/or globally. The event also features performances by a variety of artists.

This year, Ottawa’s We Day event will be taking place on November 10th, 2015.

Some speakers include: Spencer West, Craig and Marc Kielburger, Lilly Singh, Alex Deans, Heather Payne, Ambassador Bruce Heyman and Vicki Heyman, Rick Hansen and many more.

Some performers include: Simple Plan, Shawn Hook, Kenyan Boys Choir, Jesse Gold, Jillea.

For the full line up, visit Ottawa’s section of the WE Day website.

Unfortunately you can’t purchase tickets as they are free. However, they are distributed between schools and groups who have committed to the We Schools program. The We Schools program gives educational resources for free to schools/groups that will aid in them contributing through one local and one global act related to an issue they see prevalent in society.

But don’t worry – there is a live webcast of We day that you will be able to watch on their website.

The event is truly inspirational. I attended We Day in 2013 when I was in high school and I will never forget the energy in that room. No matter what differences there were between the thousands of people who attended, WE Day reinforced one idea in each and every person: together WE can change the world.
