On Wednesday, August 10th, after several days of prior promotions and event planning (see article), the Wingd team hosted it’s very first community event in the city of Ottawa at a local restaurant & brewery called Lowertown Brewery on 73 York Street.

The amount of people that were present both surprised and excited the team as it brought to light how many people were there to support the team, their efforts and their new publication, “An Insider’s Guide to Canada’s Capital”.

Several friends and family members were in attendance, as well as key guests like the Mayor of the city of Ottawa, Jim Watson, and key note speakers; CEO of National Capital Commission / Commission de la capitale nationale (NCC/CCN), Dr. Mark Kristmanson, President of Media Action Média, Amanda Parriag, Ottawa Running Ambassador, Noel Paine, Canada Director of One Young World, Antoine Pouliot, founder of Ottawa Boomers, Christine O’Grady, as well as the founder of Young & Awesome Ottawa, Nabil Imani.

The event drew upwards of 150 people and that meant the world to the team, so thank you to everyone who came out to show their support for our book. It is because of this kind of appreciation and encouragement that we believe that change can happen, together, and that this will fuel young leaders and creators of tomorrow to believe in themselves and create what they wish to create.
