The movie, Detroit, by Kathryn Bigelow gets released today in the cinemas! It recounts the events that took place in Detroit in the Summer of 1967. At best, it is emotional and ushers in a wealth of dialogue about cyclical racial discrimination, wealth dislocation and police brutality.
On Monday, July 31st, Wingd partnered with Leanwords and eOne films to host a few people at the Cineplex Cinemas Lansdowne and VIP at an advance screening for the film. Post the screening we engaged our invitees in discourse about individual reactions to the film and what the future looks like for generations to come born into a society trying to grapple with its past and some solutions that may exist.
